Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Honorable Son #1 has been involved for the past several years with the musical production group Sing Hosanna. This past week among the daily duties and the excess apples our evenings have been committed to attending technical/dress rehearsal preparations for the presentation of Mary Poppins the Musical.

I said “we” because I volunteered to be part of the stage crew. I have helped back stage with past shows and enjoy having the opportunity to help these hard working actors shine in their roles. But this show took the backstage duty to a new level of complicated. Our crew of stage people juggled many, many  large rolling set pieces that went in and out of center stage often and made movement in the side stage area a very dark maze for both the actors and crew. Along with moving set pieces, curtains, roof pieces, kites and Mary Poppins herself were flying in and out from above requiring more than one set of strong arms pulling cables.

Honorable Son#1 was part of the Ensemble and  had two additional minor speaking/singing parts; the elderly Park Keeper and one of two business men, Mr. Northbrook, seeking investment money from George Banks and his bank.

It was a busy, fun, exciting week, but I am celebrating the idea of this next week being commitment-free.

  1. How fun! I can’t imagine all the costume changes he went through, I would have had a hard time keeping them straight. He probably doesn’t know what to do with himself about now, I remember going through that whenever a production would end.
