25 Days of Cookies, day 5

The recipe for cookie number 5 originally came to our house through a “cookie-in-a-jar” gift from a friend. We like them so much I had to search the internet to find the measurement for the ingredients we had received in the jar. So if you are looking for more Christmas gift ideas, this Cranberry Hootycreek Cookie in a jar recipe was loved by us and is sure to be loved by others.

In a quart jar place each of the following in the order listed:

5/8 c Flour

1/2 c rolled oats

1/2 c Flour

1/2 tsp Baking Soda

1/2 tsp Salt

1/3 c Brown Sugar

1/3 c Sugar

1/2 Dried Cranberries

1/2 c Chocolate Chips

1/2 c Pecans-chopped

Include these directions on a printed card and attach it to your jar gift;

Preheat oven to 350; Grease cookie sheets; In medium bowl beat together: 1/2 c Butter, 1 Egg, 1 tsp Vanilla until fluffy; Add the entire jar of ingredients; Mix together by hand until well blended; Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto baking sheets; Bake 8-10 minutes.

I did not have enough cranberries on hand, so I substituted dried cherries that I chopped into smaller pieces. I also had only 1/4 cup of chopped pecans so I added chopped walnuts to make 1/2 cup of nuts. The cookies are still as yummy and good as I remember them.
